Thinking about being in the garden

Today I am thinking about being outside in the garden. Today the weather is so lovely, felt like a spring’s day not a winters day.  We should be having snow and yet we have glorious sunshine, felt warm in the sun just had to get out into the garden and feel the sun on my face, finally the rain has stopped! Made me think of warmer days to come being out in the garden.

Places to visit

Places to visit

It has been raining for days here in France, grey skies and quite miserable in fact and I know we have colder weather and snow yet to come, don't get me wrong I love the four seasons but today I am thinking about being somewhere warmer, and Sydney a place where I spent many years springs to mind.

Watson's Bay is a harbour side located approx. 10 km east of the Sydney and sits on the end of the South Head, the view across the harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge are fabulous. I have spent many lazy days here both on the beach and eating amazing fish and chips in the sun being cooled by the harbour breeze whilst watching the beautiful people including some celebs walk by. You can bring a picnic or enjoy fine dining at one of the trendy restaurants, or just sit and enjoy a glass of wine.

When I lived in Sydney we would come here often and always on Valentine’s Day evening, we would find other couples nestling together with a blanket, picnic and bottle of champagne, watching the sun go down over the harbour and the city, just gorgeous.

I came across this website recently of The Beach club which is a harbour side retreat and the latest addition to the Sydney dining scene, love the images, great vibrant colour just had to share.

South of France

South of France an eclectic mix. White washed stone walls, timber floors, a wonderful collection of eclectic pieces and a splash of muted colours. It is the holiday home of antique dealer, Josephine Ryan

French country inspired interiors

French country inspired interiors

French country style has a subtle colour palette, off whites, creams, pale blues, greens and yellows and the classic French grey.  Combine these colours with the traditional heavy timbered pieces and dark timber beams, stonework and terracotta floors, add layers of texture with textiles and accessories, especially the brightly coloured ceramics, glass chandeliers and lamps, silver or cast iron candle stick holders you then have all the elements that make up this style.

This is a good example of mixing a very traditional piece with a modern dining setting
